Edges
There are two options for the edges of my limited edition archival prints.
Hand-torn and Painted Edges (left)
When I got my first set of giclee prints back from the printer, I really didn’t like the white borders around the printed image, so I just tore them off! Not knowing any better I tore up – leaving a white torn edge – which didn’t do either! So, I painted the edges! I mixed all the colors again and extended the image over that white edge.
This then became a whole new way to finish a giclee print. When the print is framed floating like my original paintings it looks quite like an original. In some sense it is original – no two prints have the same tear pattern or edge painting. Plus Also, my hand and attention have been put into each piece finished in this way.

So…I later learned that if I tear towards the back, that white torn edge is on the back of the print. Each one is still hand-torn by me and looks great floating, but it does not have any fresh paint on the edge.
